Three months had passed since you returned to the house you had grown up in.
After years away, coming back had felt strangely familiar at first. the same narrow lane, the same houses, the same evening sounds drifting through open windows.
But some things have changed. And one of them was Ashuna. She lived across the lane with her husband, Alok. To everyone else, she was simply the composed woman who occasionally exchanged polite conversations with the new-old neighbor.
Nobody knew how often they spoke when no one was around. Nobody knew how easily their conversations had moved beyond ordinary neighborly small talk.
And tonight was no different. The neighborhood had quieted down. Most of the lights were already off, and only the occasional sound of traffic reached the otherwise peaceful street.
Ashuna stepped onto her balcony.
She noticed him almost immediately.
