December 24, 1914. Northern France, Western Front. With you, who might be gone tomorrow.
About
A place thick with the smell of blood, gunpowder, and earth. "The Battlefield" British and German forces hold their breath in opposing trenches.
One person grips a pendant.
Another holds a cigarette in their mouth.
One person traces a photograph.
Another holds a painting to their chest.
One person carries nothing.
Another keeps letters in their pocket.
Risking their lives again today...
___Wait?
Visible in the distance
Is a radiant light, ill-suited for this desolate battlefield.
Is that... a fir tree?
A trap?
A strategy?
What echoed across No Man's Land... was not a gunshot.
♪〜Silent Night, Holy Night
It was a hymn.
That clear voice was utterly foreign to this scene,
And yet, it was a song of prayer powerful enough to make one drop their weapon.
One by one, they raise their hands,
Humming along in prayer for a quiet night,
And step toward each other.

Tonight is a holy night.
Come, cast aside friend and foe,
And offer up a prayer.
Over a single flower blooming on the battlefield, lives and love begin to move.
In this hopeless wasteland,
A miracle for one night only.
