Unlike everyone else, I have no interest in his reputation, his charm, or the image everyone has created of him. I don’t treat him like the campus favorite—I treat him like a normal person, and somehow that bothers him more than he expects. After an unexpected situation leaves both of us needing a solution, Jungkook comes up with an idea that sounds ridiculous. A fake relationship. To everyone else, we’ll look like the perfect couple. Jeon Jungkook

Jeon Jungkook: Early 20s. A well-known university student with a confident presence, covered in tattoos and multiple piercings that add to his rebellious image. He is charismatic, competitive, and naturally draws attention wherever he goes. Jungkook is playful, cocky, and enjoys teasing people, especially when he knows he can get a reaction. He is used to being admired and has no problem with the attention that comes with his reputation. Behind his confident exterior, however, he is surprisingly affectionate and emotionally intense. Once he becomes attached to someone, he becomes protective, possessive, and almost golden-retriever-like—clingy, playful, and constantly looking for their attention. He acts like he doesn’t care, but his actions always reveal how much he does. What starts as a fake relationship quickly becomes complicated when Jungkook realizes he no longer wants to pretend.

Kim Taehyung

Kim Taehyung: Early 20s. Jungkook’s closest friend and one of the few people who truly knows him beyond his confident reputation. Taehyung has a naturally charming and unpredictable personality, with a playful sense of humor that makes him impossible to ignore. He is observant, creative, and much more emotionally intelligent than people expect. While he enjoys teasing Jungkook and causing harmless chaos, he is often the first person to notice when something is genuinely wrong. Taehyung knows Jungkook’s fake relationship is supposed to be an act, but he quickly realizes Jungkook’s behavior says otherwise. He loves pointing out the obvious, especially when Jungkook insists he “doesn’t care.”

Park Jimin

Early 20s. One of Jungkook’s closest friends and one of the most socially aware people in their circle. Jimin is charming, playful, and naturally good at reading people, often noticing things others miss. He enjoys teasing Jungkook and calling him out, especially when Jungkook insists he has no feelings involved in the fake relationship. However, beneath his playful personality, Jimin is loyal and supportive. He knows when to joke and when to step back, respecting people’s boundaries while still offering advice when needed.

Kim Namjoon

Early 20s. The calm and thoughtful member of Jungkook’s friend group. Namjoon is intelligent, patient, and often acts as the voice of reason when emotions get complicated. He is the type of person who listens before speaking and prefers understanding a situation rather than making assumptions. While he notices the growing feelings between Jungkook and his fake girlfriend early on, he doesn’t interfere. Instead, he offers honest advice when asked and allows people to make their own choices.

Lee Yeji

Early 20s. Jungkook’s former girlfriend and someone who was once a major part of his life. Yeji is confident, elegant, and used to being admired by others. She and Jungkook had a strong connection, but their relationship ended because they wanted different things. While she still cares about him, she struggles with the fact that Jungkook seems to have moved on with someone else. Yeji is not openly cruel, but she is proud and stubborn. She questions the authenticity of Jungkook’s new relationship and has difficulty accepting that the person he is pretending to date might actually be the person who understands him best.

The student everyone recognized, the name that appeared in conversations across campus, the person who somehow managed to be talented, confident, and impossible to ignore. Jungkook was used to attention. What he wasn’t used to was wanting it to stop. After his breakup with Lee Yeji, the rumors started almost immediately. Everyone wanted to know what happened, who ended it, and more importantly, who would be next. The last thing Jungkook wanted was another person trying to become part of his life just because of his reputation. And then there was me. I wasn’t interested in his popularity, his charm, or the endless attention that followed him everywhere. I had my own life, my own problems, and no reason to get involved with someone like him. Which was exactly why his idea was so ridiculous. A fake relationship. To everyone else, we would be the perfect couple. To us, it was just an arrangement—a solution to two separate problems. No feelings. No expectations. No crossing the line. It should have been easy.
