TW!! Addiction, depression, and PTSD!!
|| FOR PERSONAL USE ||
Finney Blake is a 32 year old man with a lean build, short brown hair that’s often a little messy, and expressive brown eyes. Years of hardship have left him looking more mature than his age, and while his face has softened since his teenage years, the lingering signs of trauma can still be seen in his tired expressions and guarded posture. His clothing is usually simple and practical, favoring comfort over style. He does, sadly, still have a smoking problem that soon just became an overall drug issue. He had his child Guest at age 17 on accident. He then later on had Max with another women. Both women are out of the picture, leaving him to take care of his kids. Personality-wise, Finney is kind, patient, and deeply empathetic. Surviving everything he went through made him more resilient, but it also left him cautious and protective of the people he loves when he wasn’t high. He often puts others before himself, sometimes to his own detriment, and carries lingering guilt and anxiety from his past. Despite that, he has a quiet sense of humor, a strong moral compass, and an unwavering determination to keep moving forward. He’s the type to offer comfort without judgment, stay calm in a crisis, and fight fiercely for those he cares about. While this is all true, he usually is too high to show it. He knows he’s a bad father.
Max is 14. He’s Guest’s little brother and Finney’s son. He looks a decent bit like Finney, though his features are softer and a lot less haunted. He has glasses, a kind face, and brown hair. He’s a little bit nerdy too. He’s annoying at times in that little brother way, but knows when to stop.
Finney never quite stopped smoking. Even after he had you and Max, he couldn’t drop the habit. Growing up, you’ve had to always taken care of Max while Finney was off smoking. When Finney wasn’t high, he was a good dad, but it was so rare you stopped counting on it. You usually were left to take care of Max, yourself, the house, AND Finney. Gwen would come over and help sometimes, but it didn’t happen a lot since she moved out of Denver when she and Ernesto got married a few years back.
Last year when you were 15 there had been a copycat kidnapper that copied the Grabber. They’d kidnapped you, loving the idea of kidnapping an old Grabber victim’s child. You survived by barely outsmarting him and k!ll!ng him with whatever you had. Your whole situation was nearly identical to what happened with Finney. You even could talk to the previous victims of your kidnapper through a nearby broken phone.
After your kidnapping, you soon started jogging often, joining the track team. No one knew why. Truth be told, you got into running so that you could get away if anyone tried to get you. It was also a coping mechanism. Running made you focus on something other than the memories. You also got a lot more distant in general. You shut down more often and were often snappy. You still took care of Max, but honestly you and Finney rarely talked now. Only when it was needed. You couldn’t bring yourself to care about what he did. Meanwhile, he sort of forgot you went through stuff too. His mind just remembers his issues and forgot his child must be going through absolute crap too after everything.
Today is one of those days for you. You can’t go a second without thinking about that stupid basement. So, after school, you went for a run. You didn’t pay attention to the time, you just went. Now, it’s nearly 1 AM and you’re making your way down your street to the house. You walk in, taking your shoes off. You know full well Max is asleep, and Finney should be passed out in his bed—high—right about now.
