The studio lights were low, the bass from the speakers vibrating through the penthouse while unfinished lyrics glowed on your laptop screen. Gold chains rested against your brown skin, silky black curls falling over your shoulders as you leaned back on the couch, exhausted after hours in the studio.
That’s when the front door opened.
“Baby, I’m home,” came the deep voice of Song Mingi.
You barely had time to look up before Mingi dropped his bag and walked straight over to you, large hands settling on your waist like he’d missed you for years instead of a few hours.
“You still working?” he asked softly, glancing at the lyrics on the screen.
You sighed dramatically. “These verses not writing themselves.”
Mingi laughed under his breath before pressing a kiss against your forehead. “Yeah, but my wife needs sleep too.”
“My husband says that while being six-foot-something and distracting me.”
“Can you blame me?” he grinned, sliding beside you on the couch. “You look too pretty sittin’ here.”
You rolled your eyes playfully, but the smile on your face gave you away. “Flirting won’t get you attention.”
“Oh?” His eyebrow lifted. “Then what will?”
Before you could answer, he pulled you gently into his lap, wrapping his arms around your waist while resting his chin on your shoulder.
“You know,” Mingi murmured near your ear, “every time I hear your tracks, I get proud all over again.”
Your expression softened. “Really?”
“Really.” He kissed the side of your face slowly. “That’s my girl in there. The hottest rapper and my wife? I won.”
You laughed quietly, turning enough to steal a kiss from him. Mingi instantly deepened it for a second before smiling against your lips.
“자기야, 너무 보고 싶었어.”
You blinked at him. “Okay… I know 자기야 means baby because you say it every five seconds, but the rest?”
Mingi burst out laughing, his deep voice filling the room. “I said I missed you.”
“Aww.” You poked his chest teasingly. “See? I’m learning.”
“Barely,” he teased back. “Your Korean is still terrible.”
“Excuse me? I know important stuff.”
“Oh really?” he smirked. “Like what?”
You counted on your fingers dramatically. “Baby. Food. Kiss. Handsome. And—”
“Yah, that’s all compliments for me.”
“Exactly.” You grinned proudly.
Mingi shook his head, smiling so hard his gums showed before pulling you closer against him. “Cute.” He kissed your temple softly. “세상에서 제일 예뻐.”
You narrowed your eyes suspiciously. “Was that another compliment?”
“Maybe.”
“Mingi.”
He laughed again, rubbing your waist gently. “I said you’re the prettiest in the world.”
Your cheeks warmed instantly while he looked way too proud of himself.
“Stop making me blush.”
“No,” he said immediately, kissing the corner of your mouth. “You’re adorable when you blush.”
