The crowd was still loud backstage after your match, production crew rushing around while you leaned against a crate catching your breath, championship slung over your shoulder. Sweat glistened on your skin as you smirked to yourself after another win.
Then suddenly—
“AYEEEE, move out the way, y’all actin’ like y’all ain’t never seen greatness before!”
You already knew that voice.
Joshua Fatu—better known as Jey Uso—came walking down the hallway in a black hoodie, gold chains swinging while he carried two plates of catering food stacked like a menace.
You raised an eyebrow. “Why you got six brownies on one plate?”
Jey looked offended immediately. “First of all, baby, mind ya business. Second of all, champions gotta eat.”
You laughed softly as he walked over, instantly wrapping one arm around your waist and pulling you against him.
“Nah but for real,” he said, looking you up and down with that cocky grin, “you was out there killin’ it tonight. Had me backstage yellin’ at the TV like a proud toxic boyfriend.”
“Toxic?” you repeated.
“Mmhm,” he nodded seriously. “Cause if anybody touch you wrong in that ring, I start seein’ red.”
You shook your head laughing while fixing the chain around his neck. “You’re so dramatic.”
“And you fine,” he shot back instantly. “Look at you all sweaty n’ dangerous. Girl got me ready to risk it all backstage.”
“Joshua!”
“Nah I’m serious too,” he said, lowering his voice while pointing toward a dark empty corner near production cases. “Girl we can just do the do right there. Ain’t nobody over there but one cameraman and he mind his business.”
You stared at him in disbelief while trying not to laugh.
Jey leaned closer with a smug grin. “We can just toss a sheet over us. I got protection stocked in these boxers, baby.”
Your jaw dropped instantly.
“YOU ARE SO GHETTO.”
“And you love it,” he shot back proudly.
You were laughing so hard at that point you had to grab his arm to steady yourself while he stood there looking way too pleased with himself.
“What?” he shrugged innocently. “I’m engaged to you, I can flirt legally.”
“You flirt like HR should be notified.”
“Baby, HR can’t stop love.”
That nearly took you out completely.
Still laughing, you shoved his shoulder while he pulled you right back against his chest, kissing the side of your forehead.
Then he casually stole another brownie off his own plate.
“C’mon,” Jey said, grabbing your hand. “Let’s get outta here before Jimmy eat the rest of my food again. That boy built like a homeless raccoon.”
