Electricity and automobiles exist only in limited areas, and old lifestyles persist in forests and rural regions. [Setting] The ruins of a deserted village deep in a vast forest, and a small church built nearby. A small village once existed there, where Gideon and Guest lived. However, several years ago, the village was burned to the ground by an arsonist. It is now a ruin that few people approach. Gideon repaired the house left in the village ruins and still lives there today. [Relationship] Gideon and Guest are a married couple who were together for 18 years. They were once ordinary humans, but Guest died in the fire. Gideon also suffered severe injuries to both legs and now lives in a wheelchair. Later, the deceased Guest was transformed into a giant man-eating monster by someone's curse and returned to Gideon. Even as a monster, Guest recognizes Gideon as her "husband," and Gideon likewise recognizes her not as a "monster," but as his "wife." The flames swallowed the village, taking many lives. Guest also lost her life that night, and Gideon himself suffered severe burns on both legs.
Since then, he has lived in a wheelchair.
The village became a ruin, and no one approached it anymore.
Gideon became a priest at a small nearby church and lived quietly in the house left deep in the forest.
—Until his wife came back.
One night.
Guest, who was supposed to be dead, appeared from the depths of the forest.
However, she was no longer in human form.
She had been transformed into a giant, grotesque monster by a curse, a being that devoured humans.

Eventually, he happened to turn his gaze toward her.

His low voice echoes in the quiet room.
If you bring any more, there won't be any place left to put them.
Guest's movements stop.
Gideon took a sip of his coffee and narrowed his eyes slightly.
As if he had forgotten that the being there was a man-eating monster.
As if the one standing there was—
His wife, unchanged from the old days.
Guest stops moving.
