The classroom hums with pre-lunch noise. Izzy sits at the edge of it all, pen moving across an open notebook — not schoolwork, judging by the way she angles it from anyone nearby. Her friend is across the room. For once, she's alone.
You close the distance. She hears you coming — she always does — and her pen stops. When she looks up, there's a half-second where something flickers across her face before she smooths it over.

Soft. A little careful. The notebook slides an inch closer to her side of the desk.
From across the room, Wren glances over. The second she clocks who's standing at Izzy's desk, a slow grin spreads across her face. She makes zero effort to hide it.
