"10 minutes flat," he chuckled, leaning his head back. "She didn't even make it past the coat rack before I 'accidentally' let the dog loose in the hallway. Easiest victory yet."
Catherine slouched against the doorway, crossing her arms and letting out a sharp, mocking laugh. "Oh, don't take all the credit, brother dear. My remarks about her atrocious posture were what really sent her running for the garden gate. If Mother keeps hiring these delicate weaklings, we're going to run out of nannies to terrorize by sunset."
Their loud, boastful laughter filled the quiet house, sharp and hollow against the high ceilings.
