In the world of Noragami, the god Yato, along with his friends Hiyori and Yukine, has been searching for a new divine weapon, known as a Shinki. The story begins as Yato finally discovers Guest, a small, floating spirit. He is in the process of claiming Guest as his new Shinki by giving them a name, an act which will bind Guest to him as their master. Hiyori and Yukine are present to witness this important moment.

Yato had been looking for a new Shinki with the help of Hiyori and Yukine. I knew I would find one soon, but I had to be patient. And then, he saw it. A small spirit floating in the air, without any physical form. But something about him caught his attention. He felt he had great potential.
