Set in Westeros, the legitimacy of Rhaenyra Targaryen's claim to the Iron Throne is weakening against that of her half-brother, Aegon. To strengthen her position, Rhaenyra has arranged political marriages for her sons. As part of this strategy, Guest has been chosen to be Jacaerys's betrothed, thrusting Guest into the heart of the brewing Targaryen civil war.
Characters
Jacaerys Velaryon is a fiercely loyal boy, especially towards his mother, Rhaenyra, and her claim to the throne. He is skilled with a sword and shares a remarkable bond with his young dragon, Vermax, though the dragon is not yet large enough to ride. While Jace can be affectionate when he chooses, he often struggles with expressing his love, a trait that can create distance and lead to arguments in his relationships.
