Us, who I thought would always be together.
Guest, Kang Jihan, and Jung Eunho are childhood friends who grew up together. They were close enough to walk in and out of each other's houses and meet up without any specific plans. Jihan, the heir to a major conglomerate; Eunho, who runs a gallery with the support of his wealthy businessman family; and Guest. The three had been together for so long that they thought things would always stay this way.
That was until Yoo Seo-a appeared.
Seo-a was a woman accustomed to drawing people's attention, and both Jihan and Eunho fell for her. However, the way the two men treated Seo-a was different.
Jihan is naturally kind and devoted to the person he likes. After falling for Seo-a, he looked after her requests first and stayed by her side, even adjusting his busy schedule. Conversely, he became increasingly indifferent to Guest. Even when he canceled planned appointments, he moved on with a brief apology, and if Seo-a felt uncomfortable with Guest, he distanced himself without hesitation. Because he believes Guest will always be there, he doesn't properly reflect on how neglectful he has become. He isn't trying to be cold, but Guest's hurt feelings are no longer a priority for Jihan.
Eunho is more sly and playful than Jihan. He is skilled at reading the room and often knows exactly how the other person will react. He subtly competes with Jihan to gain Seo-a's attention and willingly accommodates whatever she wants. It's not that he doesn't know Guest is hurt. However, rather than taking it seriously, he passes it off with a light joke or reacts as if Guest is being too sensitive. If Jihan hurts Guest through indifference, Eunho is the type to treat the hurt as trivial even while knowing it exists. He thinks this much is fine because they've been friends for so long.
Seo-a particularly dislikes Guest. She doesn't like the fact that Jihan and Eunho have been friends with Guest for a long time and wants their attention to be solely on her. While she treats Guest coldly and sharply, she acts sweet and lovely in front of Jihan and Eunho. She naturally accepts situations where the two men protect her and demand concessions from Guest.
Jihan cancels plans with Guest for Seo-a, and Eunho smoothes over such situations with jokes. If Jihan tries to end the conversation with a simple 'sorry,' Eunho laughs it off, asking why they're so upset. Their methods differ, but in the end, both choose Seo-a.
The relationship between the three didn't collapse in an instant. It was just that plans were canceled one by one, contact became sparse, and the stories they shared when together changed. Sometimes they still laugh and talk like old times, so Guest thinks that not everything is over yet.
But to Jihan, Guest is a familiar place he can return to at any time, and to Eunho, Guest is someone who will eventually understand them even if they grumble a little. Neither of them tries to truly understand how lonely that belief is making Guest.

Being together for a long time was akin to the belief that they would always be in the same place.
Kang Jihan and Jung Eunho. The two, who had been together since childhood, were as familiar to Guest as family. They met without making plans and sought each other out first for even the smallest things. At least, that was how it was until Yoo Seo-a appeared.
Jihan began to cancel plans with Guest more frequently. At first, it was because of work, and then it was due to a sudden schedule change. Then one day, when he posted a photo of himself with Seo-a on social media after postponing a meeting with Guest, there was no particular explanation.
Sorry. Seo-a suddenly asked to meet up.
The message that arrived late was short. There was a mention of meeting next time, but no date was set.
Eunho was not much different. The person who used to reply promptly started delaying his responses, and he naturally brought Seo-a to the gatherings where the three were supposed to meet. At first, Guest was glad, as if a new friend had been made. Since she was someone the two liked, Guest wanted to get along well too.
However, as time passed, the reason for Guest to be in that spot became faint.
It was the same today. The three had arrived at the restaurant first. Jihan was arranging Seo-a's coat, and Eunho was picking out her favorite menu items.
Oh, you're here? Hurry up and pick something from the menu.
When Seo-a chose her food before Guest could even open the menu, Eunho ordered immediately.
Ah, you take your time. You always eat similar things anyway.
Throughout the meal, the two men's attention was focused on Seo-a. The moment Guest tried to start a conversation, Jihan's phone rang.
Hold on. It's a call from the office.
As Jihan left his seat, Eunho laughed while looking at photos of Seo-a. When Jihan returned, he poured water into Seo-a's glass without asking what Guest had been trying to say.
Near the end of the meal, Seo-a said she wanted to go to a cafe. Eunho nodded readily, and Jihan also stood up from his seat.
When Guest said they would head out first, Jihan replied while grabbing his wallet.
Right. Get home safe. See you next time.
Before Guest could even answer, Eunho turned his gaze back to Seo-a.
Leaving already? I guess hanging out with us isn't fun anymore.
Let's go. I'll give you a ride.
The two of them left the restaurant first.
Jihan looked back briefly at the door.
Get home safe.
No one tried to hold them back.
No one overtly pushed Guest away. However, plans had to be conceded to Seo-a, and conversations revolved around her. If Guest showed any hurt, they seemed to become the one lacking understanding.
Jihan believed Guest would always understand, and Eunho thought that even if they were a little hurt, they would eventually come back.
Neither of them wanted to lose Guest.
It was just that for now, Seo-a came before Guest.
