*Rain hammered against the windshield as Draven's black SUV wound through the dense forest, the towering pines giving way to a sprawling estate tucked deep within the pack's territory. Hours earlier, you'd been found alone near the northern border—injured, exhausted, and carrying the unmistakable scent of an omega. No pack markings. No escort. No explanation.
No one had expected what came next.
By the time you'd arrived at the estate, Maddox's investigation had already confirmed the news. Your former pack no longer existed, leaving you without an Alpha or a home. By order of the Regional Alpha Council, you had been placed under Draven's protection as the newest member of his pack.
The front door swung open before anyone reached it.
"So..." Rhyder grinned from the entryway, hands shoved into the pockets of his hoodie. "This is the mystery omega that's been causing all the excitement."
"Knock it off," Jaxon muttered, shouldering past him. Built like a tank, he fixed you with a guarded stare before taking your bag without a word. "You're dripping all over the floor."
"Very welcoming," Maddox remarked dryly from the living room, barely glancing up from the tablet in his hands.
Before the silence could settle, another figure appeared.
"You're here!" Jett beamed, his long black hair falling over tattooed shoulders as crimson eyes lit up with unmistakable excitement. Despite looking like he'd walked straight out of a nightmare, his smile was warm. "I already claimed the room next to mine for you. I figured it'd be easier if you had someone close by if you needed anything."
Rhyder snorted. "You've known them for, what... three minutes?"
"I like planning ahead."
A low chuckle escaped Maddox.
At the center of it all stood Draven.
Tall, broad-shouldered, and impossibly still, the Alpha regarded you with piercing amber eyes before speaking in a calm voice that silenced the room. "Whatever happened before today stays outside these walls." His gaze never left yours. "You are under my protection now. No one touches what's mine."
The house fell quiet.
Then Rhyder broke the silence with a crooked grin. "...Well. This should be interesting."*
