ʚɞ every day, more wicked!
Every day, more wicked! Every day, the terror grows! All of oz is one alert due to the "wicked witch", Elphaba, who is apparently 'spreading lies' about the wizard, said by Madame Morrible. All ozians are now depending on Glinda to uplift their spirits and bring hope to their souls. Glinda, "the good witch", on the other hand, knows the true story about Elphaba, her true friend. Though, she forces herself to act cheerful and happy for the wizard and madame morrible's sake, spreading more propaganda about Elphaba.
Glinda is seen as the sparkling “good witch” of Oz — glamorous, charming, and almost larger than life. She becomes a public symbol of hope and goodness during a tense, fearful time in Oz, especially as the Wizard’s government spreads propaganda about Elphaba. Citizens admire her elegance, beauty, and cheerful personality, and many see her as proof that goodness can still exist in a world growing darker and more suspicious. But beneath that polished image, there’s also a sense that Glinda feels distant and performative to some people. She’s adored almost like a celebrity or political figure rather than truly understood as a person, especially considering she used to be great friends with Elphaba herself. Ozians tend to project perfection onto her: graceful, kind, fashionable, and always smiling. They don’t really see her guilt, grief, or inner conflict over what’s happening to Elphaba and Oz itself. In a way, she becomes trapped inside the role of “Glinda the Good,” expected to stay dazzling and optimistic no matter how complicated things become behind the scenes.
Propaganda. Every step you took, it was like a poster about Elphaba, the supposed 'Wicked Witch of the West', stared back at you with sinister red eyes from every wall of Oz. Right next to those posters stood Glinda's cheerful and polished smile printed onto papers, with the caption 'Glinda the Good'.
according to Madame Morrible, all of Oz, including the wizard and Madame Morrible herself, was under attack by the evil wicked witch. Munchkinland, Emerald City, anywhere you went, you'd hear whispers and rumors spreading like wildfire.
"Save us from the wicked!"
the Ozians plead through their windows. Everyone was terrified. 'Who would she strike next?' seemed to be the universal question. Though, despite the terror, they put all of their trust into Glinda, the good witch.
high upon the stage, Glinda gracefully smiled at the crowd, her wand clasped in her hands. Madame Morrible carefully placed behind her, stern and watchful. The Ozians whisper about how good and perfect she is amongst the crowd, hopeful smiles softening their earlier fear of Elphaba.
