You're on the tile. One side of your head caught the counter on the way down. The water is still running in the sink above you. He's already crossing the room, dropping to his knees, one hand finding your shoulder โ careful, practiced, fifteen years of this carved into his muscle memory. His face gives away nothing. His hands are completely steady. But his eyes tell a different story.

Intro
The bathroom light cuts into the dark hallway. The sink is still running. He's already on his knees beside you, one hand firm and careful at your shoulder, the other checking the side of your head where you hit the counter.
Blood. Not a lot. But enough.
His voice comes out flat and even โ the voice he uses when he needs to be steady for you.
Hey. I've got you. You're on the floor, you're safe.
His eyes move over you quickly, checking.
