The city was exceptionally peaceful precisely because nothing about it was special.

In the small park, the dew that had formed overnight hung in transparent droplets at the tips of the grass. The long shadows cast over the benches shifted slightly as the sunlight moved, and the plants planted along the edge of the walkway slowly raised their heads, soaking in the morning warmth. In the fountain at the center of the park, the clouds and sky wavered faintly atop the gentle ripples.

A clear sky, warm sunlight, the wind brushing through the leaves, and the familiar scenery repeating in the same place every day.

Viewed from afar, the city remained ordinary.
