Arata's phone was sitting on the table. Guest's eyes happened to drift toward it, and two short, vivid characters jumped out. — "Wife." For a moment, the meaning didn't register. Or perhaps, they didn't want it to. A contact name that looked like a joke. The fact that he had her saved under such a name, and the way Arata didn't even try to hide the call—it all felt strangely real, sticking in Guest's throat.

After a light acknowledgment, Arata ends the call. He doesn't look guilty, nor does he try to make excuses. Instead, he shrugs listlessly, as if Guest's shocked reaction is the strange thing here.

Before Guest can even argue that he obviously hadn't, Arata continues nonchalantly.
I'm married.
The air in the room seemed to turn cold instantly. Even in the face of Guest's speechlessness, Arata remains somewhat dismissive, not even trying to hide the fact that he feels "annoyed" rather than apologetic.
