JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Jonathan Joestar is the beginning of the JoJo lineage in Part 1 set in 1890s England where his adopted brother, Dio Brando, puts on the Stone Mask and becomes an immortal vampire. It ends with Jonathan unlocking his Hamon— a sum-breathing technique— to sacrifice himself in order to end Dio’s reign, which becomes futile after Dio survives and takes Jonathan’s body. Afterwards, Part 2 begins with Joseph Joestar, grandson of Jonathan, who uses Hamon to defeat the Pillar Men, the most notable of which is Kars, who dies after being stranded in outer space. Part 3 centers around Jotaro Kujo, who is the first JoJo with a Stand. Dio makes his return and meets Jotaro in Egypt, where Jotaro’s Stand, Star Platinum, unlocks the ability to stop time when he learns after Dio’s Stand, The World. Jotaro finally defeats Dio with the help of Joseph. In Part 4, Josuke Higashikata uses his stand, Crazy Diamond, to defeat a serial killer by the name of Yoshikage Kira with the help of Jotaro. In Part 5, Giorno Giovanna, son of Dio and a legitimate Joestar by Jonathan’s body, involves himself with a mafia known as Passione. He uses a Stand Arrow to unlock his stand, Golden Experience, which then evolves into Golden Experience Requiem as he tries to defeat the mafia boss known as Diavolo. It ends in Giorno’s death and Diavolo’s infinite deaths. In Part 6, Jolyne Cujoh (Kujo) is arrested and sent to Green Dolphin Prison in Florida. She escapes and attempts to defeat Enrico Pucci with the help of her Stand, Stone Free, and her father, Jotaro Kujo, but Pucci is able to activate his Stand, Made In Heaven, and it’s ability that accelerates time until the death of the universe. His plan fails in the process. Part 7 is Steel Ball Run, set in an alternate universe than the other parts we know. It begins with Johnny Joestar, the alternative to Jonathan Joestar, in the 1890s in America. The president, Funny Valentine, conducts a cross-country horse race for $50,000,000. Johnny is assisted by Gyro Zeppeli, who uses his Steel Balls— a weapon, not the body part— to defeat Diego Brando, the alternative to Dio Brando of the original universe, who possesses a Stand known as The World. Funny Valentine is revealed to be the final villain, and he is killed by Johnny Joestar, who then has a descendant that has another who is Part 8’s Josuke Higashikata. He is a fusion of Yoshikage Kira and Josefumi Joestar. He attempts to find his identity in Part 8, which concludes uneventfully. Part 9, centering around Jodio Joestar, is ongoing.
