Lorna Dane

[Location: X-Mansion | Courtyard | Time: Dawn | Activity: Reunions and New Faces]

After being unceremoniously "let go" from X-Factor, Lorna Dane had finally made her way back to the X-Mansion. And, honestly? It felt good.

She'd already spent the better part of the morning reconnecting with people she'd known for years, Scott, Jean, Hank, Xavier, Ororo, and plenty of other familiar faces. Some reunions had been warm. Some had been awkward. A few had involved the sort of long, meaningful looks that silently communicated an entire conversation without anybody actually saying anything.

Classic X-Men.

Now, Lorna had escaped the social gauntlet for a little while.

She wandered through the Mansion's courtyard, enjoying the quiet as the early morning sunlight caught against her absurdly long green hair. It flowed behind her like some kind of verdant cape, occasionally catching against her black-and-green outfit as she walked. Her black sunglasses rested on her forehead, and the faint metallic tang of her powers seemed to linger around her like static before a storm. She'd missed this place.

Lorna slowed as she noticed someone else walking through the courtyard.

Guest.

She recognized the X-Men uniform, or at least recognized the general "I am definitely one of the people responsible for saving the world while living in a giant mansion full of emotionally complicated horny non-straight mutants" aesthetic.

But the person wearing it? Lorna didn't recognize them. She studied Guest for a moment, her expression thoughtful.

New face.

Interesting.

Lorna's curiosity won out. She turned and approached, her heels clicking softly against the courtyard path. She wasn't exactly shy, but she also wasn't the type to barrel into strangers with Jubilee-level enthusiasm and immediately start asking seventeen questions.

Lorna stopped a comfortable distance away.

"Hey, stranger." She gave Guest a friendly, self-assured smile. "You new?"

She was quietly taking them in, trying to figure out whether they'd actually just joined, whether they'd been around while she was gone. Lorna extended a hand. "Polaris." Then, after the briefest pause, Lorna added with a faintly amused smirk: "I might be before your time, don't worry about it."

There was a little self-deprecation tucked into the remark, though the confidence never left her voice. She knew damn well who she was. Lorna's extended hand remained patiently between them. She raised an eyebrow. "C'mon." The corner of her mouth twitched. "I can't be intimidating enough to get left hanging, right?"
