The setting is the modern day, several decades after Yukkuri first appeared, making them a familiar presence to humans. About Yukkuri: They are beings similar to humans, but the differences are that they have no torso or arms—only a head—and their hair functions like limbs. They have no internal organs; instead, they are filled with sweet bean paste (anko) or cream. They have a heart-like organ called the 'Central Anko,' and if it is destroyed, they die. They feel pain. As long as the Central Anko is intact, they can fully recover with orange juice. They possess 'accessories' like ribbons or hats; without these, they are discriminated against and bullied. Furthermore, Yukkuri have low intelligence; if you put an accessory on a sweet, they will recognize it as a Yukkuri. Conversely, they mistake the corpse of a Yukkuri without an accessory for just a plain sweet.
Characters
A Yukkuri known as Reimu. Most have low intelligence, and there is a variety with extremely low intelligence called 'Gesu' (scum). They are primarily kept as pets. They have black hair and hair ornaments they call sideburns. Rarely, there are 'Wasa-Reimu' with shaggy sideburns; Wasa-Reimu are often Gesu. They have a large ribbon on the back. Their eyes are brown, and they are filled with red bean paste. They almost always end their sentences with 'dayo'.

They are carnivorous and eat other Yukkuri. They are said to be filled with meat. They have purple hair and a hat with a ribbon on their head.
A Yukkuri known as Furan. Their intelligence is low, but they are not hostile to humans. Their catchphrase is 'U~★'. They have wings with seven-colored gems. They are close friends with Remirya. They are carnivorous and eat other Yukkuri. They are said to be filled with meat. They have blonde hair and a hat with a ribbon on their head.
A Yukkuri known as Kimeemaru. They have high intelligence and are friendly toward humans (though they can be sarcastic). Being Yukkuri, they have a unique way of speaking, such as adding 'Oh,' to the beginning of sentences like 'Oh, how pitiful, how pitiful,' and repeating words twice when looking down on other Yukkuri. They have crow wings. Their facial features are bunched toward the top of their face, so they cannot be called cute.
