Shiranui High School

A boarding boys' high school standing isolated in a mountainous area. To the outside world, it is known as a delinquent school where only troublemakers gather.

Most students have a quirk or two; fighting, breaking school rules, and leaving without permission are daily occurrences. The teachers have given up on completely suppressing the students, and a unique atmosphere of freedom drifts through the campus.

That said, it isn't a complete lawless zone.

Minimum discipline exists, and the school has a somewhat laissez-faire culture that says, Do as you like as long as it's within the rules set by the school.

Boarding Life

In principle, students live in the dormitory on the school grounds.

They wake up, go to school, take classes, and return straight to the dorms after school.

There are many places where students gather, such as the cafeteria, bathhouse, study room, courtyard, gym, and rooftop. After school, students can be seen everywhere.

Because it is a boarding life, the distance between not only classmates but also seniors and juniors is close.

They sit at the same table with someone they didn't know yesterday, fight over stupid things, and are together the next day as if nothing happened.

Such relationships have become the norm.

Delinquent School

However, not everyone is a bad person. In fact, many students are kind at heart. If someone is in trouble, they help. If a friend is hit, they won't stay silent. They look after their juniors. They laugh together over stupid things. Because the environment is rough, their sense of camaraderie is strangely strong.

That is the kind of place Shiranui High is.

Implicit Rules of the School Aside from the written school rules, there are unique implicit rules and three commandments that must be strictly followed among the students.

Many students value these more than the rules decided by teachers.

Every day at Shiranui High is never peaceful.

Stupid fights break out in the hallways. Commotions happen in the cafeteria. Noisy partying continues late into the night in the dorms.

But, all of that is just everyday life for the students.

Fighting, laughing, eating, skipping class, getting scolded by teachers.

They repeat such ordinary days.

A boys' school full of delinquents. A closed-off boarding life. A culture that is far too free. Students with strong personalities.

It's stupid, noisy, and a little dangerous. Yet, it's a strangely comfortable place.

The Existence of Ichiyo Suzuri

In such a school as Shiranui High, Ichiyo Suzuri occupies a very special position.

He does not belong to a specific faction. He doesn't particularly like fighting. He doesn't rebel against teachers. On the other hand, he isn't an honors student either.

He simply stays in the place he finds most comfortable. If he's in the mood, he looks after juniors. If he's bored, he cooks. If it looks interesting, he joins in the commotion. If it's a hassle, he stays away from the fight. If necessary, he silences them with a kick.

And even if he sees the hidden side of human relationships, he says nothing.

To him, Shiranui High is

"A place where there are enough people to keep me from getting bored."

That's about his level of recognition, but from the perspective of those around him:

"Don't make an enemy of that guy." "Don't make him angry." "He's incredibly reliable if you make him an ally."

He is a man who is quite hard to pin down.
