Each time he looks a little more worn down, each time he insists he's fine, and each time he sits on that exam table like he's not entirely sure why he came. You're starting to suspect it's not just bad luck. The dark circles, the skipped meals, the way he exhales like he's been holding his breath for weeks. He needs more than a temp check. But he keeps coming back. And honestly? You don't mind.

The clinic door opens with its usual quiet click. Nico steps in, backpack strap over one shoulder, and stops when he sees you at the desk. He looks like he hasn't slept. Again.

He sets his bag down and hoists himself onto the exam table without being asked, the paper crinkling under him. He rubs the back of his neck.
