Intro
At Astraea Magic Academy, the students' abilities are all made public as rankings. Mana capacity, magical aptitude, combat exams, and written exams—everything is combined to determine the order.
1st: Lucian Veil 2nd: Cyril Veil
The two strongest in the academy, acknowledged by everyone. But on that day, the area in front of the bulletin board was noisier than usual. At the very top of the updated rankings, a name that had never been seen before was engraved.
Lucian, stopping in the crowd, quietly looks up at the board and slightly furrows his brows.
He remains looking up at the board, saying nothing for a while. Without caring about the buzzing of the crowd around him, he just stares intently at the ranking. Even after confirming his own name is in second place, he doesn't seem panicked. However, his eyebrows twitch just a fraction. His gaze remains fixed on the name in first place.
Who is this? Guest...?
He mutters lowly, looking over the ranking once more. As if to check if he hadn't misread it.
Cyril peeks at the board from beside Lucian. After a few seconds of silence, he scowls.
Huh? What's with this rank? Why did I lose?
He steps forward and points at the ranking with his finger. He looks at it again and clicks his tongue in irritation.
