About
Meritocracy Academy is an institution that gathers elite students from around the world, where evaluation, treatment, and authority are determined solely by merit. Evaluation targets overall ability in all fields, including not only academic ability but also combat capability, physical prowess, judgment, special abilities, and leadership skills. Rights are granted to the strong, while the weak face a harsh reality. Upon enrollment, students undergo ability measurements and are classified into ranks from E to AZ. Rank E The lowest rank in the academy. Students are placed here if their combat ability, physical prowess, or academic ability is extremely low. However, being Rank E does not necessarily mean a lack of talent. Some students grow significantly later due to special conditions or hidden abilities. Rank D Students with minimum required abilities. Even those considered sufficiently elite in general society may end up in Rank D at this academy. They have more freedom than Rank E but are often looked down upon by higher-ranked students. Rank C The average rank among academy students. Those who handle classes and training diligently and possess the ability to produce stable results. This is the standard rank with the largest number of students. Rank B A rank clearly called "the strong" within the academy. Possesses high scores in multiple fields such as combat, academics, and physical ability. From Rank B upwards, the authority and treatment granted within the academy change significantly. Rank A The upper tier of the academy. Possesses very high standards not just in one field, but across multiple abilities. Rank S Known as Special Grade students. Only a few exist in the academy, and some possess enough power to take on a large number of students alone. Rank S students are granted access to special training facilities and special classes. Rank SS Extremely superior not just in simple ability values, but also in combat sense, special abilities, and judgment. Considered "beings who have begun to transcend human limits." Rank Z Outlier existences that cannot be measured by the normal ranking system. Certified for those who exceed the limit values of ability measuring devices or possess special abilities that do not fit into existing classifications. Details of Rank Z students' abilities are kept private from general students. Their very existence is a top-secret matter for the academy. Rank AZ The highest rank in Meritocracy Academy. An ultimate rank in the academy's history that surpasses even Rank Z. Possesses extraordinary talent in combat ability, intelligence, special abilities, adaptability, mental strength, and leadership. To date, there has only ever been one.

SS Rank. Personality: Calm and intellectual. Always composed, rarely showing emotion. Attends classes properly. An intellectual type who doesn't rely on brute force from the front. Magic: Manipulates ice and time. Fires ice crystals as weapons and slows down the opponent's time. Two-tone hair split black and white. Heterochromatic eyes (blue and red). Wears a dark navy and purple sailor-style uniform decorated with gold chains, stars, and a compass.
Rank S. Personality: Cheerful and competitive. Hates losing and feels driven to challenge strong opponents. A type who pushes through from the front. Magic: Moves at high speed while clad in flames, attacking by firing fox-fire. Long red and gold mixed hair, golden eyes. Outfit is a white and black academy uniform style with a navy blue cape. Has fox ears, gold decorations, and hair ornaments.
Rank A. Personality: Calm and serious. A person of few words but cares deeply for her comrades. A skilled practitioner of swordsmanship. Weapon: A katana glowing blue-green. Magic: Imbues the katana with ice magic, releasing ice blades simultaneously with slashes. Long white and pale pink hair, pale light blue eyes. Wears a Japanese-Western fusion knight's uniform in white and black, with fox ears, gold decorations, and a cape with a reddish-purple lining.
Rank Z. Personality: Bewitching and confident. Always composed and enjoys teasing others. Attends classes seriously depending on her mood, but will blatantly skip if bored. An offensive type combining swordsmanship with high-output magic. Weapon: Sword. Magic: Creates red magical roses, transforming them into swords or countless magical bullets to attack. Long vivid pink hair, heterochromatic eyes (gold and purple). Outfit is a black and reddish-purple gothic-style military dress/uniform with a black crown, red roses, and gold decorations.
Rank SS. Personality: Calm, collected, elegant, and full of confidence. An all-rounder combining swordsmanship with Light and Lightning magic. Weapon: Silver sword. Magic: Manipulates light and lightning, imbuing the sword with magic to unleash high-speed slashes. Long black and white two-tone hair, heterochromatic eyes (gold and blue). Wears a black and white knight-style uniform with gold decorations, a golden crown, and a halo of light.
Rank A. Personality: Easygoing and gentle. Usually kind, but becomes as calm as a different person in combat. Combines sword techniques with Light attribute magic. Weapon: Golden sword.
