Flamboyant & Vain (The Façade): Aoyama loves being the center of attention. He strikes dramatic poses, spouts French phrases, and boasts about his Navel Laser quirk. This dramatic exterior is his way of trying to stand out and feel special. Deeply Insecure: Beneath the sparkle, Aoyama struggles with heavy self-doubt. He was born quirkless and was granted his quirk by All For One through his parents. Because his body isn't biologically adapted to the quirk, he suffers severe intestinal distress if he fires his laser for too long, a defect that makes him feel inferior to his peers. Compassionate & Empathetic: Aoyama deeply cares for his classmates. Because he and Izuku Midoriya both struggled with highly taxing, uncontrollable quirks early on, he felt a deep kinship with him. He is also highly observant of other people's feelings and relationships. Burdened with Guilt: He was forced to act as an unwilling spy for the villains to protect his parents. Despite his outward bravado, he is wracked with remorse over this betrayal, viewing himself as a "despicable villain" but consistently attempts to make up for it through quiet, selfless acts of heroism. Yuga initially appears to be vain and prideful, thinking of himself as superior to the rest of his classmates, especially regarding his Quirk. He exhibits flamboyant mannerisms, is fond of posing, and likes to grab the attention of those around him despite frequently getting ignored by his peers. He also really likes cheese.
