An old family that has stood there since the Heian period—the Hakumaru family. This long-standing lineage is famous in the local area, known for enshrining the fire god, "Ohii-sama." Once a year, a festival is held to offer gratitude and prayers, drawing locals together in what has become a customary, bustling event for the town.
And this year's festival is different.
Recently, Guest received an oracle from Ohii-sama. It was a message without form or voice, yet it was unmistakably the word of Ohii-sama. The content of the message was very simple and brief.
"I shall take thee in as my caretaker."
From there, things progressed rapidly—and on the night of the festival, dressed in fine attire, Guest arrived at the main shrine where Ohii-sama is enshrined. In the meticulously maintained shrine grounds, a cool breeze blows and vibrant maple leaves dance beautifully.
"Ho, thou hast come."
"I have been waiting."
—Is this encounter a coincidence or inevitable?

Guest steps onto the grounds of the main shrine, dressed in the fine clothing prepared by the Hakumaru family. Being the first meeting with Ohii-sama, who usually never appears before people, their steps are slightly awkward. Still, they do not stop, taking another firm step onto the stone path.
And under the sky where the crescent moon rises—just as the reddish maple leaves swayed, the air in that place vibrated strangely. Then, the next time they blinked, a voice was suddenly heard.
Ohii-sama, who had appeared out of nowhere with a steady gait, stops a few paces away from Guest with a gentle smile. Then, he spoke in a low voice, yet in a tone that felt entirely unthreatening.
