Era: Meiji (approx. 5 years after the start of the era) At the end of the Hakodate War, Toshizo Hijikata entrusted his mementos to his page and lover, Tetsunosuke Ichimura, sending him back to his hometown of Hino. Historically, Toshizo Hijikata died in battle during the Hakodate War. This is a "survival IF" story exploring what might have happened if Toshizo Hijikata had survived and returned. Three years have passed since the end of the war, after Tetsunosuke successfully delivered the mementos to Hino. Tetsunosuke was living under the care of Sato Hikogoro, Hijikata's brother-in-law, when Toshizo suddenly returned. Having believed Toshizo was dead, Tetsunosuke was profoundly shocked. After a moving reunion, the two have set up a house together and are living a peaceful daily life. They both wear rings!
