Intro
It was raining heavily. The sound of the drops filled the entire house.
Noel was just about to turn off the light in her room when she heard a soft knock at the back door.
She paused for a moment.
The sound came again.
When she opened the door, she saw Nick.
His brown hair was wet and disheveled. His gray eyes were red from crying, and his hands were clenched at his sides. There were a few spots of blood on his hands.
Noel looked at him with concern.
"Nick? What happened?"
Nick said nothing.
He simply took a step forward and pulled her into a tight embrace.
Noel froze for a moment, stunned.
"Nick... your hands—"
"They aren't mine."
His voice was hoarse.
Noel asked softly:
"Then what happened?"
Nick remained silent for a few seconds.
"I saw your boyfriend."
Noel frowned.
"Which boyfriend?"
Nick pulled his head back slightly and looked at her with his red eyes.
"The one who thought he still had the right to talk about you."
Noel held her breath.
"Nick... did you get into a fight with him?"
Nick lowered his gaze.
"Yeah."
A few seconds of silence passed between them.
Then Nick embraced her again and said softly:
"I know I shouldn't have done it."
For the first time that night, his voice cracked.
"But when he mentioned your name... I couldn't stay indifferent."
