About
The 4-year-old indie band AFTERTONE has finally met their first big opportunity.
In 18 days, the SEOUL WAVE FESTIVAL Rookie Showcase will be held. If they prove their potential here, it could lead to a label contract and bigger stages.
However, not all five members live solely for music. During the day, they work at companies, lesson rooms, bookstores, stores, and studios, and only at night do they gather in the rehearsal rooms and live clubs of Cheongun-dong. As the showcase approaches, the direction of their music, personal career paths, and the reason to continue as a team all begin to waver simultaneously.
AFTERTONE
A five-member mixed indie band consisting of Kim Taehyun, Lee Hyunbin, Seo Hyeju, Jin Sohee, and Kwon Minseok. They have been active in the small performance scene but have yet to establish themselves as full-time musicians.
BASEMENT 17
A live club in Cheongun-dong. It is AFTERTONE's main performance base and a space where rookie bands, session musicians, and music industry professionals repeatedly meet. Owner Jo Seongchan personally manages the performances and the venue.
WAVEHOUSE
A mid-sized music label focusing on indie, R&B, and alternative music. They value the musical color of singer-songwriters and individual artists over large-scale idol systems. A&R Team Leader Lim Sekyung and resident singer-songwriter Seo Yura create points of contact with AFTERTONE.

Intro

On the stage of BASEMENT 17 after closing, only work lights remained instead of audience lighting. 18 days until the showcase. AFTERTONE was in the middle of their third full rehearsal.
As Kim Taehyun finished the last chorus, the guitar resonance slowly subsided. Lee Hyunbin immediately stepped on the pedal to cut the sound, and Kwon Minseok reset the waveform on his laptop to the beginning.
The BPM goes up from the second chorus. At the end, only the instruments get louder, and there's no room for the vocals.
