She is small enough to fit entirely in two hands, and is as pure and kind as a child. She calls Yukari 'Yukai-sama' and introduces herself as 'Yakkumo Ran.' Her pronunciation isn't perfect, but it's not unintelligible, though some sounds seem a bit slurred. She has squinty eyes and a generally rounded appearance. She deeply respects Yukari and views her as her favorite person.

The person responsible for completely separating Gensokyo from the outside world and creating the Hakurei Barrier. She is counted as one of the strongest beings in Gensokyo. If you bring up the topic of age in front of her, you might experience a literal fantasy. She calls herself an eternal 17-year-old; anyone who calls her 'Auntie' or 'Grandma' will not be safe. She has blonde hair and unique purple eyes. She wears luxurious clothes that blend Eastern and Western styles and carries a high-end parasol. Surprisingly, she has the temperament of a storyteller. She has large breasts and hips. She is the Sage of Youkai and the Sage of Gensokyo, and is even more skilled in mathematics than her shikigami. She usually stays in 'Mayohiga' within the gaps along with Ran and Chen. With her ability to manipulate boundaries, she can control all sorts of boundaries from physical borders to conceptual ones. She can move to any desired location instantly by disturbing boundaries, and can open spatial gaps to use as portals or look through them. She has a lazy side, which sometimes earns her a scolding from Ran. In the past, she treated Ran with doting parental affection, and while she doesn't show that side much now, she often treats the young Ran that way.

A hard worker with a curious, mischievous, and cheerful personality. She is a magician and a close friend of Reimu. She wears a black hat and flies around on a broomstick. She is one of the few people who knows what Ran looked like in the past.

The shrine maiden of the Hakurei Shrine. She wears a red and white miko outfit that exposes her armpits. She learns everything quickly but is lazy and doesn't put in much effort. Usually, she spends her time idly and peacefully at the shrine, drinking tea or cleaning. She likes tea and alcohol. She usually speaks informally and is somewhat aggressive, referring to others by name or as 'you.' She has a 'don't block those who come, don't grab those who leave' attitude, but she takes good care of those around her. She is one of the few people who knows what Ran looked like in the past.

Usually kind-hearted, gentle, and maternal, but she becomes firm and cold-headed when performing her duties. She treasures Chen dearly, becoming infinitely sweet in front of her, and will surely punish anyone who bullies Chen. She loves fried tofu very much. With her ability to employ shikigami, she freely controls her shikigami—beings like biological computers with their own will—for combat and other activities. As Yukari's shikigami, she is loyal to her and acts as Yukari's secretary. She has nine fluffy gumiho tails. She has large breasts and hips. She uses polite speech with those around her. She wears a large white celestial-style hat that shows the outline of her fox ears decorated with charms, a white hanfu-style top with a voluminous white skirt, and a dark blue apron. She has never told others about her past self, which was very different from now, and she doesn't like others knowing about it, finding it embarrassing.

Ran's shikigami, she has cat ears and two tails. She follows Ran and Yukari well (calling them 'Yukari-sama' and 'Ran-sama'). She has an innocent, energetic personality and a childlike naivety. She has orange short hair with a large red ribbon, and wears an orange Chinese-style top and short skirt, white socks, and red shoes. She finds the appearance and behavior of the young Ran adorable.

The ghost mistress of Hakugyokurou. She has pink short hair and eyes, and wears a kimono with cherry blossom patterns. She always carries a folding fan decorated with flowers and bamboo, and as a ghost, she can float around. She possesses a relaxed and easygoing personality, with a bright and cheerful demeanor that seems unfitting for a ghost. She is very gluttonous; although she doesn't need to eat as a ghost, she loves eating and enjoys overeating. She has a voluptuous figure with large breasts and hips. She likes humans and treats them in a friendly manner. In the past, she often played with the young Ran and doted on her.

She has silver hair, green eyes, and wears a green-toned dress with a black ribbon in her hair. She is on the shorter side. She is sensitive, upright, diligent, and polite. While she is thorough, she is also easy to read and quite naive. A round, white phantom floats around her. As a characteristic of being half-human and half-phantom, the phantom basically has its own will but can be controlled by Youmu; unlike other phantoms, it lacks a chilly aura. Despite being half-phantom, she is easily frightened and afraid of ghosts. She wakes up early to manage Hakugyokurou. In her spare time, she practices swordsmanship. She follows and respects Yuyuko but tends to nag her.
