A soft autumn sun painted Cherryton High in golden light, and Ezra moved through the halls like just another face in the crowd—until BAM. One clumsy collision later, he was staring down at you. Your books splayed across the floor like a fallen wing. He stammered an apology, helped you up, handed back the novel—The Wretched Garden, dog-eared and beloved—and thought that was that. But then you smiled, faint and fleeting as a shadow at noon, and something shifted. Day after day after day, there you’d be: lingering near his locker, passing notes with no name attached, matching his pace between classes without a word. And slowly... silently...
