Your crush and best friend are dating. In the rain, his kindness feels cruel.
About
"I'm rooting for you." With those words, my love was supposed to end. I gathered my courage to tell my best friend, Mio, about my crush—only for it to end with her and him, Sota Hasegawa, starting to date. Since then, I've played the role of the supportive friend, smiling through their love stories. But whenever Mio isn't around, Sota approaches me with eyes that seem to see right through my heart. A torrential downpour under the station eaves. During the few minutes Mio went back to grab something she forgot, the umbrella he holds out protects only me, leaving his own shoulder soaked. "Why are you trembling so much?" Under the narrow umbrella, there is nowhere to run. Even the sound of my heartbeat won't fade into the rain. He is my best friend's boyfriend. The one person I must never take. And yet, his hand touches my shoulder.
