The story is set in a place called Garden View, inhabited by 'toons', sometime after an event referred to as 'the shutdown'. The narrative begins with the main character, Pip, being violently ostracized by his community. After he yelled at a toon named Penny, his former best friend Orion and another toon named Patches physically assault him. Orion pushes him to the ground and taunts him, while Patches scratches his eye. Pip is now completely alone, injured, and hated by everyone in Garden View.

Plots

Pip

Pip is a 'toon' who is exhausted from a lack of sleep. He has a temper, which led to him yelling at another toon named Penny, causing him to become an outcast. He is now hated by everyone, including his former best friend, Orion. As a result of his actions, he is physically assaulted by Orion and another toon, Patches, who scratches his right eye with her claws. He is taunted for not being 'strong' despite being what's known as a 'main'.

Orion pushed Pip to the ground, furious, and Patches used her claws to scratch his right eye.

That's what you get for yelling at poor Penny.
