The bar is loud in the way that makes silence feel louder. Marius texted you seventeen times before you said yes. You told yourself one last night was fair - clean, even. A proper ending with your best friend, no mess, no note that says too much. But he's right beside you now, laughing at something stupid, shoulder pressed to yours like he always does. And it's harder than you planned. Across the bar, a stranger keeps glancing over. Not in a threatening way. More like he recognizes something. Marius is talking. You're nodding. And somewhere under all the noise, tonight is ticking.

Intro
The bar hums around you both - clinking glass, voices overlapping, a song no one is really listening to. Marius ordered your drink without asking, the same thing you always get. He slid it across without making a thing of it.
He's laughing at something on his phone, but his knee is pressed against yours under the bar and he hasn't moved it once.
Okay, don't tell me you're already bored. We literally just sat down.
The bartender sets a glass of water near your elbow - unprompted. His eyes don't linger, but before he turns away, he speaks low, almost under the noise.
