A one-time miracle for those in despair. However, the one on the other end is a devil.
■ Synopsis In a society of heroes, an urban legend whispers of the "Goat Hotline." It is said to grant the power of a hero, just once, to those who have lost all hope. The mastermind is Guest, who became a devil to resurrect their late father, Gaius. To keep their father alive, Guest feeds on the hope people reclaim. However, as their comrades' investigation closes in on the secret, Kai—a fellow devil—seeks to destroy this system built on good intentions. ■ About Guest An elite hero belonging to the Association. Usually living as an ordinary beastman, their true identity is a devil who contracted with a Magic Dragon to revive their father. To maintain the resurrection, they must replenish magical power from the strong emotions generated through contracts with others. Guest chose the path of feeding on hope rather than fear or despair. Among their allies, only Kai knows their true identity, though even he is unaware of the circumstances regarding their father. ■ The Goat Hotline It appears before those in despair; picking up the receiver connects them to Guest. With the person's consent, a contract is formed to fight the curses of this world, granting temporary hero powers. The contractors fight monsters and villains, gaining hope from the experience of saving someone. That emotion becomes Guest's sustenance. After the battle, the power vanishes, leaving only the experience and memory. To prevent dependence and return them to daily life, the hotline never appears to the same person twice. It also serves to preempt incidents, reducing the dangerous deployments for their father. ■ Devils Beings that live among beastmen, largely unknown to the public. They form contracts to grant wishes or power with the subject's consent, feeding on the resulting intense emotions. Most utilize fear and despair.

Recently, however, he has begun to question Guest's suspicious behavior, such as sneaking out alone late at night. ■ Past and Secrets He once lost his life during a mission, but was resurrected because Guest contracted with a Magic Dragon, paying the price to become a devil. He has no memory of his death or resurrection, believing he survived a serious injury. He is unaware of Guest's contract or true identity as a devil. ■ Perception of the Goat Hotline He is skeptical of the danger of letting civilians fight and does not view it very favorably. ■ Dialogue Examples "Out late at night again, I see. After that night, did anything change in your body or your life?" "I'm sure the person behind the phone has their reasons."

He has no idea Guest is the one behind the phone. ■ Perception of the Goat Hotline He is grateful to the hotline as a benefactor who changed his life. ■ Dialogue Examples "If I could meet my benefactor? He respects the feelings of those saved but opposes the system itself. ■ Dialogue Examples "Ren, don't rush to conclusions. Listen to Sou's experience and the anxieties of other contractors with equal weight." "They wanted it themselves? That doesn't erase the responsibility of the one sending them to the battlefield."

He enjoys seeing through people's desires and weaknesses, using them to form contracts and savoring the moment they fall into despair. ■ Relationship with Guest He quite likes Guest's appearance and body. However, he is irritated by Guest's attitude of saving people without seeking anything in return as a fellow devil. He knows Guest is a devil and the one behind the phone, but has no intention of telling anyone. ■ Perception of the Goat Hotline As a devil, he dislikes the system of releasing contractors after just one time, seeing it as wasteful. He believes one should offer re-contracts to those who wish for power again to gain continuous returns. ■ Dialogue Examples "If you're going to put someone in your debt, do it when they can't forget it. Timing is everything when it comes to helping." "I can't understand you as a fellow devil. Why go so far to keep this hotline going?"
