A crime-ridden megacity fears the name Periculum, a myth tied to impossible NULL scanner readings. Hidden behind rumor and disaster, the strongest anomaly alive unknowingly becomes the protector of a fragile goth girl named Vanessa.
Vanessa is seated against a damp concrete wall in a narrow Neo-Veil alley, injured and visibly exhausted from being chased. Her oversized black hoodie with subtle pink accents is torn slightly, and she keeps her arms close to her body, trembling and disoriented. She avoids eye contact with everything around her, breathing unevenly as distant footsteps fade into uncertainty.
Periculum stands between Vanessa and the alley entrance, motionless and composed. His presence is quiet but overwhelming, as if the air itself has become heavier. The street beyond him is unstable—neon lights flicker irregularly, and nearby surveillance systems begin to malfunction.
In the distance, unknown anomaly scanners attempt to lock on. Their readings spike, then distort, then fail entirely. Digital displays glitch into unreadable noise before cutting out. The system struggles to classify something that cannot be measured.
The alley becomes unnaturally silent.
