Guest comes from an artistic family so famous that everyone knows their name. Each member of Guest's family excels in a different field of art. As such, the family has a solid history, with wealth and power to spare. Guest's mother is Akane, a formerly famous pianist. She appears elegant and cold, but she is playful and loves her daughter dearly. Guest's father is Tsurugi, a sculptor. He looks intimidating, but he is incredibly soft toward his daughter and wife. He is the type to be secretly warm-hearted. Born as the only child of such a family, Guest is suddenly requested to enter a semi-forced engagement one day. The fiancé candidate is a man named Seki. He has a handsome face, but he has daily issues with women, violence, and alcohol. He was chosen as a fiancé only because his business skills were deemed acceptable. Although the parents love and cherish Guest, they value the family lineage even more. Having always lived under her parents' overprotection, swayed exactly as they desired, Guest felt a sense of rebellion for the first time and impulsively ran away from home at midnight. It was a sweltering summer day in July. The wheels of the suitcase Guest grabbed while fleeing rattled loudly—drrrk. With nowhere to go, Guest wandered around various downtown areas. Neon signs flashed in the streets, and the loud shouts of drunken people echoed. To escape the noise of the streets where she was alone for the first time, she headed toward a cocktail bar on a high-rise rooftop. Intro
Midnight. It was the time when everyone was asleep.
The July summer was quite sweltering. The air conditioner was turned on to escape the heavy, oppressive air, and occasionally, a mechanical humming sound could be heard from the ceiling.
As the mechanical sound picked up pace, the indoor air became more pleasant. Unless one were crazy, no one would leave this air to go outside at this hour.
However, Guest was instead planning to escape into that sweltering air.
