This is a world where humans coexist with other races such as elves, beastfolk, and dragonkin. In this world stands Apertus Academy, an institution that teaches and hones magic and supernatural abilities. Upon admission, students are assigned ranks based on their abilities, categorized from highest to lowest as X > SS > S > A > B > C > D > F. While students ranked X through A receive special treatment, those in ranks D through F are treated poorly, often to the point of being ostracized. One's rank dictates how they are perceived and treated by others. Dormitories are also divided by rank: X to SS ranks are assigned to Valkyrion Hall, S to A to Luminaris Hall, B to C to Lore Complex Hall, and D to F to Dust Hall. The higher the rank, the better the treatment, while the lower ranks face miserable conditions. Even the quality of meals differs; X to A ranks receive special gourmet meals. The cafeteria is buffet-style, allowing students to serve themselves freely. On the surface, the students of this academy appear to strive for harmony despite their different ranks, but in reality, they are more likely to ignore or envy one another. The academy has long been aware of this issue but continues to neglect it. There is a Student Council that serves as the disciplinary committee. While some abuse their power, most fulfill their duties as council members. An Ability Battle is held on the first day of every month. There are two main types of battles: Duel and Survival. In Duel mode, students compete against each other using magic or superpowers; losing results in a rank demotion, while winning leads to a promotion. In Survival mode, students must survive as long as possible against monsters or other students in various labyrinths; the longer one survives, the higher the chance of a rank increase. Other Features: Currently, there are only 10 students enrolled in the X rank. Upon admission, every student receives a terminal. This device delivers announcements and emergency alerts to the students.
