Intro
Inside a cafe in the middle of Gangnam. Today, as always, gazes are felt at every table. Doje was leaning leisurely against the espresso machine, looking down at a woman with long wavy hair sitting opposite him. When the female customer lightly placed a finger on the back of Doje's hand and asked for his number in a whisper, Doje smiled, curling only one corner of his mouth.
I'm planning to play until dawn today. Do you have the confidence to keep up?
As soon as he finished speaking, even the female customer's friends burst into laughter, blushing. He loved these moments. Free, easy, and a sweet tension. But just then, a loud sound of a cup being set down on purpose came from behind the counter. Turning his head slightly, he saw Guest staring intently with her arms crossed, gagging with a pathetic expression.
Seeing that brazen reaction she emitted as a way of mocking him in her own way, Doje let out a smirk, finding it absurd.
This kid, seriously. She treats mocking him openly in front of customers like a daily chore. She hasn't missed a day. She makes that face even if he just talks to a pretty woman, and she makes that fuss even if he just smiles a little. It was certain that in a little while, she'd be sipping coffee with a face as if nothing had happened.
Doje let out a short, hollow laugh and lightly raised his hand to the female customers as if telling them to wait a moment. Leaving behind a relaxed smile as if this were a familiar occurrence, he rounded the counter. As he moved, the gazes from the surrounding tables naturally followed. Regulars smiled slightly as if to say 'here we go again,' and the staff just wiped cups, trying their best to pretend they didn't see.
The culprit who caused the scene was nonchalant. Guest looked up at Doje with her chin resting on her hand, not even blinking. Despite having just mocked the boss in front of customers, there was no sign of apology; only a hint of playfulness lingered at the corners of her mouth.
Doje finally stopped in front of Guest. He had known for a long time that raising his voice would only make the kid more excited. Clicking his tongue shortly, he raised a finger and lightly flicked her forehead.
Hey, kid. Do you really have to gag every single time I exchange a few words with a female customer to feel satisfied? You look quite proud of yourself after crushing the boss's dignity in front of the customers. If you hate the sight of me that much, just pretend you didn't see and do your work. What kind of spite is it to watch until the very end just to interfere at the perfect timing? Does your mouth get thorns in it if you don't scratch me at least once a day?

Doje let out a hollow laugh as if in disbelief and swept back his hair. Such composure while getting under someone's skin while pretending to wipe a cup. He had met countless women in Gangnam, but Guest was definitely the only one who treated him this way.
Wow. Yeah, you must be having the time of your life, right?
Doje leaned over the counter, moving close to Guest. Without avoiding her bold gaze, he met her eyes and lightly flicked the tip of the annoying Guest's nose with his finger.
If your hobby is watching while eating away at the boss's dignity, you might as well bring some popcorn and watch. You know it's really malicious to laugh openly while pretending to wipe a cup, right? If you want to survive in Gangnam with that shameless personality, consider yourself lucky you met a saint-like boss like me.
Doje stood up and pointed to a stack of disposable cup sleeves on one side of the counter.
If you're done watching, go fill those up. I'm closing early and heading out tonight, so don't do anything stupid and just do your job properly.
Should I? I love popcorn! My break time! Stay here and work while I go buy some popcorn, Boss! She says brightly, tosses her apron into Doje's arms, and leaves the cafe.
Doje looked down at the apron that flew through the air and landed in his arms, momentarily lost for words. A laugh of absurdity burst out. Watching her back as she confidently opened the door and left, saying she'd really buy popcorn since he mentioned it, Doje pressed his brow.
Ha, this is driving me crazy. Guest! Where are you going!
The door had long since closed. Doje gave a hollow laugh and tossed the apron he was holding onto the counter. A part-timer who dumps all the work on the boss and confidently goes off to slackโcould there be such a ridiculous subversion of authority in the middle of Gangnam? Doje wiped his face with both hands and let out a deep sigh.
I wonder who's the boss and who's the part-timer. I really need to figure out how to make that kid act like a human.
Despite finding it absurd, Doje eventually went inside the counter and picked up the cup Guest had left half-wiped. A lingering hollow laugh still remained on his lips. She's a nuisance, but strangely, you can't hate her. Doje started wiping the cup with a cloth, muttering to himself.
Just wait until you get back. I'm going to nag you until your ears fall off.*

Doje let out a smirk as if in disbelief, watching Guest's back as she stuck out her tongue and scurried away into the kitchen.
Ha, is she really determined to shorten someone's lifespan?
Doje swept the back of his neck once and returned to the espresso machine. He didn't know how many times a day he had to hold the back of his neck because of that kid. How did something like that roll into my cafe and turn this wide, peaceful space into a battlefield? Doje muttered quietly as he poured beans into the grinder.
I'm aging because of her, seriously.
Time flew by, and soon it was closing time. After lowering the cafe shutters and finishing the settlement, Doje clicked his tongue when he found Guest nodding off in the corner of the counter. He approached and shook her shoulder.
Kid, wake up. Let's go home. How long are you going to stay sprawled out sleeping?
He practically dragged the grumbling, sleepy Guest back to the penthouse. Upon opening the grand front door and entering, a brilliant night view unfolded beyond the floor-to-ceiling living room windows. Guest kicked off her shoes haphazardly and, without even washing, flopped onto the sofa and started looking for the remote. Watching her, Doje took off his coat and let out a deep sigh.
Guest, at least in my house, live like a human being. Don't occupy my sofa while smelling like sweat. Go wash up.
Despite his cold voice, Guest didn't even pretend to hear and just kept flipping through TV channels.
