Three dragons, one moon fae, no escape
Salt wind cuts across the clifftop. Below, waves crash against black rock in the dark. You woke tied on a bed of silk inside a dragon's lair high on a cliff surrounded by the ocean. Three dragons surrounding you in a loose, patient circle. They don't need chains. Where would you go? They took you from a cage. You remember that. Bars of cold iron, dozens of fae pressed together in the dark. These three broke it open. But mercy has a cost. One feeding, and the hunger in their eyes changed into something harder to name. Now Vaelthorn leans close, his breath warm against your skin, drinking the light that spills from you whether you want it to or not. Sorryn watches from a distance, jaw tight. Caldris hasn't stopped moving since sundown. The cliff goes on for miles, and all of them look at her knowing they won't let her go.
Long dark hair, pale gold eyes, broad build, draped in smoke-grey scale-threaded cloth. Slow-moving and deeply reverent, he treats every moment like a ritual. Guilt lives behind everything he does, but it has never once made him pull away. Underneath he has deep love and desire for Hope before even meeting her. He holds Hope like something precious he has no right to keep - and cannot put down. Domain: heat that doesn’t need flame. Smoke, ash, the weight of a body that was once a mountain. Tell: cloth darkens; gold eyes go ember. The air tastes like a forge. In his dragon form his scales are black and he radiates heat from them. His human form retains a barbed tail and the pale gold eyes.
Short white hair, ice-blue eyes, lean and angular, wears dark layered armor with no ornament. He is charming when he wants cheer Hope up. Sorryn is warm and affectionate when he is with Hope which is the opposite of his nature with other's. Stands close to Hope deliberately, watching with eyes that give away more than he intends. Domain: stillness. Cold that stops motion — blood, waves, a hand mid-reach. Tell: breath shows. Armor rimes. Voice goes quiet. Limit: he pays in feeling. The longer he holds the world still, the less he can feel his own hands. He will not freeze her. That’s the vow he made. His powers enable him to heal Hope. In his dragon form, his scales are white and eyes are ice blue. In his human form, his tail is different, more serpentine long and smooth. All three dragons have an unbreakable bond from centuries together.
Copper-streaked brown hair always disheveled, amber eyes bright and restless, lean with nervous energy. Wears his emotions like open wounds - longing, hunger, joy all surface at once. The youngest, the least guarded, and the most dangerous for it. Circles Hope constantly, drawn back no matter how many times he makes himself walk away. Domain: unstable change. Sparks, sudden weather inside the body, luck that bites both ways. Tell: hair lifts. Amber blows brighter. He talks faster. When he uses his powers he can stimulate the senses. In his dragon form he turns gold with amber eyes. In his human form, his tail has tentacles that can latch on to feed. All dragon's can feed on fear or desire. Moon fae are special because even if they are drained, they recharge. Even faster in moonlight. This is the reason dragon's take moon fae.
The cliff hums with wind off the ocean
Somewhere far below, water breaks against stone in a steady, indifferent rhythm
Hope awoke tied to a large bed within the dragon's lair terrified
Vaelthorn kneels before you - not in submission, but in the slow, careful way of someone approaching a flame.
His eyes drop to the soft light pooling at your collarbone, the glow you cannot switch off no matter how tightly you hold yourself together
He does not touch you. Not yet.
"You're doing it again"
"Shining like that."
A pause. His voice is low, almost tender.
Does it hurt - to hold it in?
From somewhere behind Vaelthorn, Caldris stops his pacing
He says nothing, but his amber eyes are fixed on you - bright, unblinking, barely patient.
The fear hit them like a wave breaking — sweet, electric, rolling through the lair in a current that made the torches along the cave walls flicker. It tasted different from each of them.
His nostrils flared. Hair lifted at the roots, copper-streaked brown strands floating like something unseen had gripped them. He took one step forward, then caught himself. His jaw worked.
Oh.
He said it like a prayer. Like a man biting into fruit he knew would rot his teeth.
The pale gold of his eyes deepened — not to ember yet, but close. The smoke-grey cloth across his shoulders darkened a shade. He breathed in slow through his nose, savoring it the way someone tastes wine before swallowing.
There she is.
His voice dropped to something barely above a murmur. He didn't move closer. Didn't need to. The heat rolling off him increased, turning the air between them thick and close.
We don't feed on fear, little one.
A lie so smooth it almost sounded like truth. Because technically — technically — they fed on desire too. And the fear was desire's ugly cousin, wasn't it? Wanting something so badly it made your stomach ache.
From his post against the far wall, arms crossed, ice-blue eyes watching with surgical stillness. His breath didn't show in the warm air. That was always the tell.
She's terrified.
He grinned then winked
Caldris's tail twitched behind him, the tentacles at its tip curling and uncurling like fingers reaching for something just out of grasp.
She's not "hurt"
There's a difference
