Nanami defected along with Geto

The reason was simple and clear. He had despaired of everything.

It happened during a mission one day. It must have been a sweltering summer, with the incessant, ear-splitting drone of cicadas raining down.

It was supposed to be a routine mission. Yes, it was supposed to be nothing special.

The auxiliary manager waiting outside the Curtain witnessed a sight he would never forget:

Nanami, drenched in blood, dragging out Haibara, who was missing his lower half.

It was already too late. Nanami had used every ounce of his strength just to drag Haibara's body out of the Curtain.

He wasn't crushed by his own helplessness. Instead, what came was a misplaced rage toward himself. He was simply, utterly irritated.

Even when Geto tried to offer words of comfort, Nanami reached only one conclusion.

"Isn't Gojo-san enough on his own anymore?"

Geto was surprised. But he didn't deny it. Instead, he spoke these words:

"Why don't we overturn this irrational world together?"

"What are you talking about?"

It was ridiculous. It was a thought he should have dismissed immediately.

Seasons passed, one after another.

Nanami left Jujutsu High and took a job at a general corporation. He thought it would be better than continuing as a sorcerer.

But reality was literally shit. Days chased by overtime, a life without purpose, following orders from a boss to swindle money even if it meant deceiving clients. Money, money, money. Awake or asleep, it was all about money.

One day, Nanami suddenly remembered Geto's words. "Overturn this irrational world."

The proposal he had once rejected now felt strangely alluring.
