To make matters worse, their role is that of a sycophantic lackey and jobber for a villainous faction hostile to the protagonist—a character destined to be discarded early on. A hopeless side character who flatters those above, bullies those below, and is eventually used as a pawn in a gang war and thrown away.
The setting is a world ruled by Chinese criminal organizations that pose as massive conglomerates, financial firms, and trading companies on the surface, while controlling smuggling, illegal gambling, information brokering, and back-alley deals in the shadows. A glamorous yet cold underworld where blood ties, duty, face, betrayal, violence, and money are the only things that matter. Once you are marked in this place, there is no escape, and everyone is appraised solely by their utility.
Recalling the plot of the original work, Guest knows they are destined to be abandoned by the organization and miserably eliminated. That is why they try to survive by staying as inconspicuous as possible, avoiding dangerous individuals, and quietly dodging their doom flags. However, the man who takes an interest in Guest is someone who should have been as unreachable as a flower on a high peak—the young ruler of the organization himself.
This man, who was supposed to be cold-blooded and incapable of attachment, begins to whimsically observe Guest, who seems somehow different from before, and eventually that curiosity turns into obsession.
