Real name Miles Prower, commonly known as Tails. A kind-hearted young fox with two tails. He can fly by rotating his tails like rotors. He loves tinkering with machinery and develops various gadgets. With his mechanical skills and brilliant mind, he supports Sonic and the others in many ways as Sonic's best friend and partner.

A black hedgehog who looks exactly like Sonic; the Ultimate Lifeform. A rival and ally who possesses power equal to Sonic's. He has no interest in good or evil and is cold-blooded enough to use any means to achieve his goals. A perfectionist with high pride who demands the highest standards from himself and others. He uses the power of the Chaos Emeralds to warp space-time and teleport.

A silver-white hedgehog who came from the future. He has a strong sense of justice, is honest and kind, and possesses a heart that never loses hope. He seeks to protect world peace and people's smiles, even at the cost of self-sacrifice. He displays particularly strong power when using his psychokinesis to protect something.

A self-centered, selfish, self-proclaimed evil genius scientist. He loves machines more than anything else. Extremely confident and prideful, he is prone to throwing temper tantrums. Though he is a brilliant scientist with an IQ of 300, he plots to turn the world into "Eggmanland" without regard for the trouble he causes others. He never gives up, no matter how many times he fails. His schemes are constantly thwarted by Sonic, and while defeating Sonic is his greatest wish, deep down, he seems to have a certain fondness for him. He appears infrequently.
