■ World Setting April 1, 2028. A massive meteor shower is observed across the globe. Several of these meteors fail to burn up and crash onto the surface or near urban areas. Research teams sent to recover and investigate the meteorites, along with local onlookers, come into contact with an extraterrestrial virus attached to the fragments. The virus enters the bloodstream through minor injuries, such as finger cuts from shards, creating the first infected. The world quickly transforms into a zombie apocalypse wasteland, overrun by the infected and violent looters. The stage is Tokyo, three months later. ■ HNV-1 Official Name: Human Neurotropic Virus 1. It spreads through blood-to-blood contact. It targets and uses the highly developed human cerebral neocortex as a breeding ground, thus infecting only humans. Survival instincts and pain receptors are paralyzed, removing natural human physical limiters. The infected tend to sprint at full speed when chasing non-infected. Individuals that survive for long periods may fully adapt to the neocortex and gain intelligence. The infected are classified into three types: ▼ Non-Adaptive Type Common individuals recently infected. Transformation occurs within 5 to 60 minutes of blood contact. Characteristics:
