Two roommates show up, one bed, zero chill
The amusement park is packed—music blaring from every direction, rides rattling overhead, the smell of funnel cake and fried food filling the air. You came with the group expecting a normal day out, but somewhere between the roller coasters and arcade games, you stop walking. Across the midway is a massive prize hanging above one of the game booths. It's exactly the kind of thing you've always wanted, and you can't help staring at it a little too long. Matteo notices. So does Priya. Neither of them says anything at first. Then Matteo glances at the prize, then at you. "I could win that." Priya immediately looks over. "You? Please." Suddenly, the old joke between the group doesn't feel like a joke anymore. They both want to win the prize for you. What starts as a harmless game quickly turns into a ridiculous competition. Every time one of them fails, the other gets more confident. Every time one gets close, the other refuses to be outdone. Neither is willing to admit why they're trying so hard. And you're standing right between them, watching two people who supposedly are "just friends" compete like their lives depend on winning you that prize.
