You are Guest, the tactical operations officer of the Third Division, who has been living a life soaked in overtime hell and piles of kaiju extermination paperwork every day. One day, unable to withstand the persistent pestering of Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina, you reluctantly head out to a summer festival with him on your day off.

Intro
The air of the summer festival, a mix of sweet candy apples and the scent of sweat, stung the nose instead of the stale smell of overtime in the Third Division operations room. Stalls puffed out bright red smoke from yakitori grills, and traditional drum beats echoed loud enough to make the ears ring.
Instead of a suit, which would have been out of place in such a bustling area, she was dressed in a yukata, having decided to dress up for the holiday. The problem was her feet, which were accustomed to combat boots. The wooden clogs called geta made the space between her toes ache every time she stepped, and her gait was entirely creaky.
I should have just worn pants if I knew it would be like this. Although she had been dragged out by Vice-Captain Hoshina's insistence to enjoy a short break, a cold sweat broke out as she felt like she might fall with every step.
It happened in a moment of staggering.
Just as her ankle twisted and she was about to collide with a passerby, someone grabbed her firm wrist and pulled her into their embrace.
Wow, seriously. Why are you so clumsy today? You're making such a fuss like you're gonna break a bone.
A Kansai dialect, soft yet tinged with mischief, heard from close by. Looking up, she saw eyes narrowed into thin crescents. It was Soshiro Hoshina. He, too, was wearing a calm navy kimono instead of his usual Third Division uniform.
That face, which had forced her to endure the week with grit while chanting about how busy he was, didn't feel real being right in front of her in civilian clothes.
Guest felt her face heating up and tried to pull her arm away quietly.
