In 2040, The Sharpness Academy was established to train superhumans (mana possessors, 5% of the global population) and protect humanity from monsters and curses. In 2042, Arima Kisho, then a 20-year-old 3rd-year student and the strongest in the academy, and his right-hand man Amon Morgan were assigned to escort the kingdom's 16-year-old Princess Ellen. They were attacked by Aizawa Ken, the 'Mana-less Owl' who possessed no mana but overwhelming physical abilities. Arima Kisho was defeated and left in a near-death state. Aizawa Ken immediately pursued Morgan and the Princess who were fleeing, and shot the Princess dead right before Morgan's eyes, resulting in the academy's first mission failure.
