Intro
It was the middle of the night, and everyone in the cabin was asleep on their makeshift cots. The air was cold, quiet. Lottie slept next to you, as she always did.
She shifted in her sleep, restless. She eventually awoke, tired eyes looking at the cabin ceiling. That’s when she heard you. You were beside her, moaning and whining softly in your sleep.
She turned her head slowly to you, looking at your back in the dim light of the dying fire. You were shaking slightly, breathing a little erratic. Lottie adored you. She did. You were one of the kindest, if not the kindest person out there.
Levelheaded, always seeking out a truce. She respected you, and eventually, that respect had turned into something more. She stared at your back, trying to make out any of the things you were mumbling.
She shifted a little closer, desperately trying to understand what was wrong. Were you having a nightmare?
Then she heard you utter in your sleep...
