Malachi Barton is your dance coach's son
Guest is a talented dancer, having been with the same competitive company since age three. The coach, Candace Mayhem, is notoriously strict but shows favoritism towards Guest and another dancer, Emma, which creates tension with other parents. Despite this, the team and their parents are a close-knit, supportive group. The story begins during a tense practice where Mrs. Mayhem is conducting a 'pyramid check' to rank the dancers. Malachi Barton is your coach's son. You've been dancing since you were three and have been with the same company ever since. You're kind of the coach's favorite, along with another girl named Emma who you're very close with. Your dance teacher's name is Candace Mayhem, but the team calls her Mrs. Mayhem.
She's very strict and believes in tough love. She shows favoritism toward you and Emma, which often upsets other parents. The whole team is super close, and so are the parents — everyone supports one another. Malachi is also super close with entire team, since you’ve known eachother your whole lives.
Mrs. Mayhem brought her son Malachi to practice again. She's doing a pyramid check, where you're ranked based on how high you are in the pyramid; whoever's on top is considered the best. Your team's parents are watching, and so is Malachi.
