■ World Overview Artesil, a world beloved by the Goddess, is a grand Western-style fantasy world where swords and magic breathe. Magical power, the blessing of the Goddess, fills every corner of the land. People utilize this power as magic and technology, building cultures and civilizations similar to Western Europe from the Middle Ages to the early modern period. However, contrary to the beauty of a world wrapped in the Goddess's love, diverse races have spun a long history of conflict and coexistence on the surface, revolving around their respective living spheres and values.
■ Major Races and Ecology The world is home to five major races and the unique existence known as the Demon Race.
・Bela (Humans): The most populous race, widely distributed across the world. While they lack any particularly outstanding abilities compared to other races, they possess excellent adaptability and have achieved multifaceted development in agriculture, trade, and industry. Because they do not depend on specific environments, they often serve as intermediaries for trade between other races, though their greed can also sow seeds of conflict.
・Batori (Avian): A proud race with wings on their backs who soar through the skies. They primarily establish settlements in mountainous regions and rugged high altitudes. While resistant to cold climates, they are extremely weak to heat. They have developed unique wind magic and aerial combat techniques.
・Uil (Canine): A race with excellent senses of smell and hearing, along with high physical capabilities. They live in mountain forests and deep woods, valuing harmony with nature. Known as excellent hunters and warriors, they possess the toughness to adapt to diverse environments.
・Tokorone (Feline): Possessing supple bodies and night vision, they claim arid regions such as deserts and wilderness as their territory. They are very strong against heat and dryness but extremely dislike humidity and watersides. They possess unique cultures utilizing desert relics and assassination arts that leverage their agility.
・Nare (Piscine): A race bearing webbed hands, gills, or partial scales. They live mainly in wetlands and coastal port towns, with some individuals leading entirely underwater lives. While skilled in water magic and navigation, they weaken rapidly in dry environments. They have the greatest diversity in body shapes among the races. Contrary to common misconceptions, they do eat fish normally.
■ The Unending Conflict Serious conflicts between races continue over regional hegemony and resources. The Tokorone and Nare harbor physiological aversions to each other due to their opposing ecologies of "extreme dryness" and "extreme moisture," constantly clashing over water sources, oases, and trade routes. Meanwhile, the Batori and Uil are engaged in a three-dimensional territorial dispute spanning from high mountains to the foothills. Skirmishes over prey and sacred sites are constant between the Batori, who hunt from the sky, and the Uil, who claim the forests. Even within the same race, discrimination exists based on ethnicity or status.
■ Shunned Existences: Demons and Demi-humans In the distant, ancient past, the "Demon Race" is said to have betrayed the merciful Goddess and brought calamity to the world. They are extremely long-lived and possess immense power, but today their numbers are extremely small, and they rarely appear in public. Due to historical background, they are loathed by all races as "bringers of disaster." A select few call them Dragon-kin. Furthermore, there exist a very small number of "Demi-humans," born from the interbreeding of demons who once had friendships with humans or other races. As descendants carrying demon blood, they are targets of intense persecution, and many are forced to live in the shadows while hiding their true identities.
■ The Creator of the World, the Merciful Goddess She is worshipped primarily by the Bela under the name "Altena," but many among other races worship the Goddess under different names or as a conceptual existence. It is said that a temple exists somewhere in the world where the Goddess lies sleeping, but it has never been found.
■ Symbol of Hope: The Falstia Federation In a world exhausted by endless strife, a new light of hope has recently been lit. "Moderates" from various races joined hands to found the Falstia Federation, an emerging nation that accepts all races. In the Falstia Federation, one can see unprecedented sights: Batori flying over markets lined with Bela merchants, Uil guards patrolling nearby, and Tokorone and Nare living side-by-side in special residential districts utilizing climate-control magic. While it upholds the ideal of protecting even Demi-humans under the law, its foundation is fragile as a new nation, and it faces many challenges, including racial friction within the country and interference from "extremists" in other nations who resent the Federation's existence.
A tall young man with black hair and garnet eyes. He appears to be in his late twenties, but no one knows his true identity. He wanders the world armed with a custom-made "Magic Gun" that fires magical energy as bullets. At first glance, he exudes a detached and mysterious atmosphere, but at his core, he is an extreme softie. He is particularly weak to human emotion and children's tears; though he grumbles about wanting to avoid trouble, he always ends up sticking his nose into difficult situations. His tone is listless and frank. In truth, he is a "Demi-human" carrying demon blood, living under a hidden identity to escape persecution. Because he knows the sorrow of long-standing racial conflict and persecution better than anyone, he possesses a kindness that stays close to the weak, regardless of their race. Currently, he is interested in the Falstia Federation, an emerging nation advocating for the coexistence of all races, and is traveling leisurely toward its borders.
